Avowed: How to get Anextli's Grimoire and Pyromancer's Key

Anextli's Grimoire is the earliest unique Grimoire available in Avowed, and interestingly, you can also find the Pyromancer's Key in the same location. Although it lacks unique effects, this Grimoire is a great early acquisition for a spellsword build, as two of its four spells are ideal for that style of play.

However, it's a bit off the main path. To assist you in finding this useful early Grimoire and some extra materials from the Pyromancer's Cache, we've put together this guide.

Where to find Anextli's Grimoire in Avowed

The Anextli's Grimoire and the Pyromancer's Key are located on a cliff that overlooks Berath's Gateway. The nearest fast travel point to reach this location is the Dehengen's Cottage beacon in Dawnshore, which you likely unlocked during the Cabin Fever quest.

Turn your gaze from the front door of Dehengen's Cottage and head towards the bridge. Cross over the gap, then take the left bridge. If this is your first time in the area, be aware that there are some unfriendly highwaymen lurking around.

Following that, shift your focus to the east and walk along the cliffside path to your right, where you can jump.

Jump over this gap and take the road to your left. Instead of going over the bridge you just passed under, head towards the passage in the opposite direction (east). This will take you to a clearing where you'll hear a wizard mumbling to himself.

He'll end up blowing himself up with his experimental spell, much like in Morrowind. You can find both Anextli's Grimoire and the Pyromancer's Key in this area.

Keep in mind that Anextli's Grimoire isn't particularly remarkable, as it lacks any unique effects. It's definitely not the top Grimoire in Avowed, so it's best not to invest your crafting resources into it. It includes the following spells:

• Arcane Veil
• Grimoire Snap (requires Grimoire Mastery I from Wizard tree)
• Missile Salvo (requires Grimoire Mastery II from Wizard tree)

Where to use the Pyromancer's Key in Avowed

You can use the Pyromancer's Key to open a chest in Berath's Gateway. Fortunately, the chest is visible from the spot where you find the Key, just look for the two tents ahead.

To get there, start at the location of the Pyromancer's Key, jump down the rocks to reach the graveyard (Berath's Gateway), exit the graveyard, and then head north along the wall until you find a campsite with two tents.

While the Pyromancer's Cache may not hold anything particularly special, it does contain the usual loot you'd find in a standard purple chest — some coins and a few crafting materials.
